THE SUSTAINABLE ECOSYSTEM OF KHANDIGE

Khandige has a sustainable ecosystem where it does not rob the wild forests of its rich flora. All of the herbs and other rich ingredients used in our preparations are cultivated in company owned lands to ensure high standards of purity.
Anandapura is a small town near Shimoga district in Karnataka where Khandige has a certified Organic plantation called Manavi.
The plantation spans 58 acres and has a tropical climate with hot summers (maximum of 34 degree Celsius) and moderate winters (a minimum of 20 degree Celsius) with rainfall between the months of June and September. This farm is focused on Organic Dairy, jaggery, spices and herbs like Brahmi, doorva, gotu kola, pippali , etc. Rare trees include flame of the forest, rose wood, flowering-murdah, Citharexylum quadrangularis, Arjuna.
We have one of Asia’s first Certified Organic Dairy Unit, where the cows are treated with respect and dignity, provided with adequate shelter, and are maintained hygienically. The organic cows are kept healthy and productive, fed with certified organic vegetarian diet without the use of growth hormones or antibiotics,making sure they have access to clean water, fresh air and a certified pasture to graze in.
The Khandige estate spread across 1000 acres is located in the Sirumalai hills, an isolated group of hills in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu drained by three rivers of which 2 are perennial which flow through the Khandige estate before flowing into the plains as a series of waterfalls. The region receives an average of 120-132 cm rain during the months of October and December. Surrounded by about 20-30,000 Ac of reserve forest, this estate has a natural wealth of flora and fauna, particularly medicinal plants, which has been left primarily untouched. The primary aim of this estate is to conserve the bio-diversity of the Western Ghats and to prevent or at least stall the destruction of this rich Eco-system due to rampant deforestation.
THE MANUFACTURING FACILITY
The Khandige manufacturing facility, located in Bangalore, is fully equipped with a unique blend of state-of-the-art machinery and staff who are trained in traditional methods to produce the best quality, organic products without any contamination or adulteration by chemicals and toxins.
Our facility is airy and clean and adheres to international standards, our production staff take extreme care to ensure the purity of work, and to retain the pristine quality of the ingredients, as nature intended.
THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS
The certification process is extremely stringent which makes sure that all the raw materials are grown organically. While clarifying the hygenic conditions under which the products were manufactured and the strict protocols that were followed while preparing the authentic ayurvedic recipes, the certificate also ensures the quality in packaging methods, storage of raw materials and finished goods to prevent mixing with conventions that might also be used.
A special treatment method is used to prevent contamination. Sampling and analysis methods are used for checking purity of the products, While certifying plantations and farms, LACON looks at the field specification, the crops that are being grown, the crop cycles being followed, the quality of seeds used, the date of sowing and harvesting, the yield estimate per hectare – to name a few parameters that are taken into consideration. All this precision ensures that when you buy a certified organic product, the consumers trust on the brand is never compromised.
